Isaiah 55:10-12 10
"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; 11So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. 12"For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands. "
Just as a drought is no good for the land and its inhabitants so is the lack of or shortage of Gods Word no good for us and evrything we are associated with. having had the opportunity to experience first hand the effects of a severe drought, i recall how we yearned for a good rainy season and what it meant to everyone. This scripture draws my attention to the quick transformation of the landscape, bringing about an aura of serenity to many a heart. Fields are ploughed and seed planted but if the rainfall is not enough, all the initial hard work is to no avail as the crop withers away. People and livestock suffer from food and water shortages and if the countries economy is based on agriculture, we all know what that means. The lack of rain or shortage of it triggers an undesirable chain reaction and so does the lack of or shortage of God's Word in the life of a Christian. Brother and Sisters in Christ, let us not plough our Christian fields in vain. We do not have to rely on an unpredictable rainfall to harvest a good crop. We have GOD's Word which is readily available to us at all times and as scripture says, "....It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it...." God Bless you all.
